About the IT Industry in New Zealand
IT and Communications is the fastest growing sector in New Zealand, consistently earning IT professionals double the income of the national average. New Zealand’s reputation for innovation and our growing international profile has attracted steady overseas investment, while the New Zealand ICT sector’s investment into research and development is by far the highest of all sectors.
The number of IT firms and employees has also shown significant annual growth country-wide. The highest concentration of IT firms and jobs is in Wellington, where Computer Systems Design makes up 3.5% of all Wellington firms, and 5.7% of Wellington’s employment. Auckland and Canterbury also have high numbers of firms and employment in this area.

Role Details
Position: Technical Business Analyst
Core Focus: Defining non-functional and functional requirements for underlying technology platforms and integration layers.
Industry Expertise: Essential experience with APIs, microservices, cloud platforms, or complex backend systems in high-transaction environments.
Technical Stack: Strong proficiency in SQL, JSON/XML, Postman (or similar API testing tools), and extensive experience with Agile/Scrum methodologies. Familiarity with JIRA is expected.
Key Responsibilities
Work with Software Architects and Engineers to document platform requirements and specifications.
Map and document complex system-to-system integrations and data flows.
Translate technical debt and platform improvements into clear, prioritised user stories.
Support testing and deployment activities for platform releases.
