A fantastic opportunity to join a leading contractor in the Rail sector as Health and Safety Manager. We are looking for someone with at least 5 years in the role on leading construction, civil or (highly desired) Rail projects. This is a great flexible company to work for who value their people and are looking for someone who is motivated to make a difference in the industry. You will need to be a capable manager who is experienced at managing key relationships with clients and external agencies.

The role

Establish procedures and implement programs to provide a safe and healthy working environmental for all project personnel. Provide guidance on safety related matters to the project team leaders. Monitor and measure performance in the field alongside the workforce. Analyse performance and identify proactive measures to prevent significant incidents or events occurring.

Key accountabilities

Develop and administer HSE education and compliance programs for employees, contractors and visitors within a defined workplace

­ Contribute to the development and implement occupational health and safety procedures based on approved company policies in the areas of health, safety, and environment

­ Investigate the causes of serious events on site and recommend actions to prevent future occurrences

­ Assist the New Zealand HSE Manager in the education of Project Leaders to manage and oversee compliance and governance with our HSE management systems

­ Provide support, coordination and advice of approved HSE practices, systems and procedures within a defined workplace

­ Provide training education and awareness as well as mentoring for HSE aspects

­ Maintain comprehensive HSE records and manage all required HSE reporting requirements, both internally and externally

­ Maintain an update-to-date knowledge of all relevant legal, regulatory and company HSE requirements, ensuring management and staff are kept informed of any relevant changes to legal, regulatory and company HSE requirements

­ Coordinate and provide day to day specialist support to the Project Leadership team, employees, contractors, clients, and visitors during the project lifecycle

­ Liaise with key stakeholders on HSE specific requirements

­ Perform all duties in accordance with client policies, processes, systems, and procedures

­ Monitor and compliance of site-based safety performance (working on site)

­ Monitor and compliance of site-based safety performance (working on site)

­ Assist the Wellington project site team to deliver work safely

­ Safety based training, preparation, and delivery of toolbox talks and delivery of internal training packages

­ Safety Documentation development and review

­ Drug and alcohol testing

­ Rehabilitation and return to work co-ordination
