Our client is a market leader, operating nationwide in a busy, essential and ever-growing industry – an established company with an emphasis on innovation and sustainability. They are looking to recruit this new senior level transport position to assist in ensuring their impressive fleet of bespoke trucks keep them at the forefront of what they do. Based in Central Auckland with a network across the country, this role will be the dream position for someone with a genuine passion for trucks, fleets, and environmental sustainability.

About the Role

This role is a senior level position within a tight-knit and committed team. It is a very involved management role, both in terms of people and fleet management, and so will need a ‘sleeves up’ approach. Due to the large scale and very bespoke nature of their rapidly growing fleet, the role requires someone with a genuine passion for trucks and sound knowledge of the engineering behind them. Responsibility of a team of 4 and over 400 trucks across the country, you’ll take the lead on future proofing this fleet - leading on strategy, innovation, development and maintenance and ensuring the current and future fleet reflects the organisation’s ethos around market leading innovation and sustainability.

Aside from fleet management experience and mechanical/engineering understanding, this role requires a commercially astute and analytical individual. Someone who can work with data and numbers to manage resources, reduce costs, increase efficiency, and essentially, optimise this key component of the business.

Key accountabilities/attributes

Full management of a large and growing bespoke fleet of trucks

Leadership of tight-knit and committed team

Lead on health, safety, quality and environmental sustainability

Have good commercial acumen – adept with financials and reporting

Lead on policy, procedure and best practise

Manage suppliers and relationships with industry bodies

Hands on involvement with various build and design projects

About You

This role requires someone with a genuine passion for trucks, fleets and future planning. Knowledge in these areas is essential - you’ll be able to work with autonomy and have a hands-on approach.
