Purchasing / Procurement Officer - Structural Steel
The company operates in the structural steel fabrication sector and have supplied their product to a number of flagship projects in Auckland and across New Zealand over the years. They have been operating for decades and have a strong forward workload, great team environment and a diverse workfo rce.
Due to a staff member moving out of Auckland, the company is looking to hire a Purchasing Officer. The position will be responsible for steel purchasing activities to optimise supply and timeliness of delivery of inventory into the production facilities, in order to maintain consistent production for deployment to construction projects. There will also be procurement and purchasing of general usage consumables. All of the suppliers are NZ based apart from one, which is based overseas in the Indo-pacific region.
The position is paying $65-85k dependent on experience. The company also operate a profit share scheme.
Working within the purchasing and procurement team, the main duties include
Working with the production facility for procurement planning
Review inventory levels, provide replenishment recommendations and identify potential supply problems
Raise purchase orders to ensure adequate stock levels are maintained (bill of materials ordering)
Maintaining orders spreadsheets and updating the departments on ETAs
Communication and negotiation with suppliers
Month end activity reports
Receipting, invoice input for overseas purchases
Costing analysis and reporting
Ideally we are seeking someone with structural steel experience, but this is not essential. The next best option would be someone that has a construction focus, or indeed someone with proven history in procurement with a focus on product standards and compliance.
Ideally you will have a minimum of 3-5 years' experience in a similar role. You will be detail orientated and timeline driven with strong communication skills, you will be an integral member of the team and wider business. With your strong negotiation and organisational skills, you will be able to effectively partner with key suppliers to ensure process improvements, quality initiatives and reduce inefficiencies.
