Our client is one of the Pioneers of alternative Energy in New Zealand with over 30 years experience designing, supplying and installing solar power systems for residential, motor homes & commercial industries. They have an excellent reputation with helping their customers with solar energy requirements including grid tied, off-grid power, hybrid and other solutions.
The company has approx. 15 people currently and is growing at a rapid rate. Due to the workload and the demand on their services they have a strategic plan in place to double the company within the next 2 years and thus have requirement of an Operations Manager to be in place to help with this growth phase in the company. Due to the technical nature of the company, the ideal person will be EWRB registered but off the tools and have experience managing teams, this is however not a deal breaker for the right person.
About the role
As the Operations manager, you will ensure that the company operations run smoothly and on time. You will work with people, core operations, budgets, project delivery, and in company strategy. 80% of the role will be operations and 20% in the field will be providing technical support to the teams.
Other key responsibilities
People management which includes the planning of jobs (there is a sales team, engineers & installers), planning resources and materials
Establish & document policies and procedures for the company
Act as the 2IC to the MD
To be successful for this role
Relevant industry knowledge and experience within the Electrical sector, preferably supported by a relevant tertiary qualification or similar (Electrical or EWRB registered)
Experienced in managing dynamic service related schedules
Previous people management experience with a passion to to grow and develop teams
Excellent communication and problem-solving skills
An understanding of quality systems and policies, Health, Safety etc
