Complex Heavy Machinery Design – Stable OEM in scenic Rotorua – Technically challenging precise engineering
The Company
Well established, medium sized company who are leaders in their niche field. This is a very stable Original Equipment Manufacturer, who design, build in-house, and then export their specialist and complex heavy machinery all around the world.
The Role
You will join an engineering team of mechanical, electrical & controls, and tooling design engineers and work on a variety of challenging and interesting machinery design projects.
You will design new custom-built machinery, adapt, and tweak existing designs for specific customer requests, design upgrades to machinery already on customer sites, and also make design upgrades to the existing company range of products to keep them up to date with industry needs.
You will also interact with people across the business like the Mechanical Fitters on the workshop floor when they are making and putting together the machinery, and with their in-house sales engineers you will provide technical input to help with quotations.
You will do engineering calculations and use AutoCAD Inventor for 3D design, drawings, and do FEA analysis. Product testing, refinement, and installation technical support will be your cup of tea.
Does this sound like you?
Degree qualified Mechanical or Mechatronics Engineer with at least 3 to 5 years’ experience
Heavy machinery design experience
R&D project design process understanding
Understand mechanical concepts and innovative design
Ability to do mechanical engineering calculations and analysis
Proficient with Autodesk Inventor (or similar software) for 3D CAD design and FEA
Have an eye for detail and ability to QA check designs
Can work in a precise engineering context with very low design tolerances
Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities

An understanding of steel manufacturing processes
