Following the recent involvement of a private equity firm, this company is now looking to ramp up its growth and reach across even more of NZ.

The Role

This is a newly created Financial Controller position that will form part of the senior leadership team. The role has been created due to the continued growth of the business and to help them achieve their next phase of growth in the short and medium-term. With the support of two direct reports, you will be responsible for the day-to-day management of the finance function, ensuring the requirements of all stakeholders are met. Stakeholders include the board, management, staff, industry and government organisations, and suppliers. The Financial Controller will provide specialist financial advice and information on the financial environment and operations of the business, while ensuring the organisation is aware of and complies with all financial obligations.

Your key duties will include (but not be limited to)

Participate in & contribute to the development of the organisation’s strategic plan

Financial & management reporting

Budgeting & forecasting

Cashflow management

Ad-hoc commercial & financial analysis to understand the business’ performance & potential

Provide leadership to the finance team that engages and motivates them to succeed

Create and lead a culture of continuous improvement in the finance team

Support the wider SLT with ad-hoc tasks

Work closely with the private equity firm to achieve goals and targets

To be considered for this position you must be a fully qualified accountant (CA,CPA or equivalent) who has previous experience in staff leadership roles. You must be able to demonstrate the ability to work collaboratively with an SLT to help the business achieve its strategic goals. Due to the current size of the business, and the finance team, you must be comfortable in rolling up your sleeves and getting into the detail when necessary. Finally, experience in systems implementations and upgrades would be extremely desirable.
