Job Description:

The purpose of this role is to assist with the implementation of IFRS 17 with the organisation and be the go-to person for everything IFRS.

This role is a long-term FTC running until June 2023.

As part of a Group-wide project team you will represent the organisation's Finance Team on the project

Ensuring specific financial reporting needs are addressed

Ensuring the organisation will be able to produce financial statements that comply with IFRS 17

Provide the wider NZ finance team and other stake-holders with updates and education with regard to the impact of IFRS 17

Contribute to discussions with RBNZ and IRD and other regulatory body conversations regarding the impact of IFRS 17 This will involve close liaison with the NZ Finance and Actuarial teams

Other duties include

Represent the specific accounting & reporting needs on the Project and ensure these are addressed and appropriate IFRS 17 implementation solutions delivered

Research and provide advice on IFRS 17 implementation issues and challenges

Collaborate with NZ finance and actuarial colleagies and group-wide IFRS 17 Project Team colleagues to ensure NZ capability to produce IFRS 17 compliant financial statements

Significant input to IFRS 17 solution design and build

Identify consequential tax compliance impacts of IFRS 17 and raise awareness with Tax team.

Identify consequential RBNZ Solvency impacts of IFRS 17 and raise awareness with NZ Finance and Regulatory teams.Raising awareness levels and educating business managers on IFRS 17 compliance matters

Monitor developments and practice and areas of potentially significant business risk to enable any adverse consequences to be prevented or at least limited and any opportunities to be maximised

Provide other, non-IFRS 17, technical accounting advice to the wider Finance team on an ad-hoc basis

Source of expert insights and advice related to specific issues or business scenarios to manage risk of financial statement error or mis-interpretation

Interpretation and application of accounting standards and statutory obligations to drive compliance
