Masterlink – mentored apprenticeships in plumbing, gasfitting and drainlaying – is seeking a proactive and resourceful Auckland-based Business Development Manager (BDM) to help us grow and maintain excellent key relationships and create opportunities within our industry.At this time of unprecedented government support for vocational training, this is a chance to help us make a real difference in an industry with a well-documented shortage of qualified skilled workers.Our BDM will work closely with our team to increase the number of businesses training apprentices and set apprentices on the path to a secure future in a watertight career. Our Company We are the only national group training scheme solely dedicated to the plumbing trades. We are 100 percent owned by Master Plumbers, the only national membership organisation for New Zealand’s plumbing, gasfitting and drainlaying businesses.We provide support and exclusive resources to apprentices and the businesses that provide their on-job training. Masterlink recruits apprentice candidates and places them with established ‘host’ businesses, providing ongoing pastoral care and mentoring for the duration of the apprenticeship. We are passionate about and proud of the work we do. The Role Relationship management with a strong emphasis on business development is what this role is all about. You will be responsible for engaging with potential and current host companies, apprentices, and business partners. Your key goals will be to: - Increase numbers of quality hosts and apprentices through the development of new products and services- Maintain existing business partners’ support and foster new collaborations. You will play a pivotal role working with our team to: - Identify and attract prospective hosts, apprentices, and business partners- Manage all partners’ and sponsors’ accounts (including agreements)- Successfully achieve Masterlink’s growth targets- Maintain and create effective internal and external relationships- Represent Masterlink at a wide variety of events – internal and external, national and local – including conferences, expos, careers fairs and educational events. About You You will be an outgoing, experienced BDM with the ability to relate to people from all walks of life – from young school leavers to mature career switchers, one-man band businesses to large corporations. A background in either plumbing or construction is desirable but not essential. You willhave proven ability in building long term professional relationships, plus experience in the strategic development and implementation of sales plans and prospecting programmes.This fast-paced role requires a self-motivated person with the ability to work autonomously. You will be exceptionally organised with a can-do attitude and an eye for detail. Your IT skills will help you maintain database information.
