The Privacy Commissioner is New Zealand’s privacy regulator. The organisation works across business, government and the public to promote and protect individual privacy. Key functions include advocating and advising on matters relating to privacy, educating businesses and organisations about their privacy obligations and individuals about their privacy rights, and investigating and conciliating complaints about breaches of individual privacy.
2020 is a big year for the organisation. The new and modernised Privacy Act 2020, effective 1 December, expands the organisation’s role as a regulator and gives it a greater range of enforcement powers.
Reporting to the Manager Support Services, you will provide a high level of core HR advisory services and support to the organisation to achieve its mission through its people. The organisation is small, so the role covers all aspects of the employment life cycle including recruitment, induction, learning and development, engagement, reward and performance, employee services, and transition.
This is a true generalist HR role where you will need to hit the ground running. You will need a sound working knowledge of employment related legislation and what it means to be a good employer. You must have excellent relationship building, interpersonal and communication skills (written and verbal). Your sound judgement and strong attention to detail will be key. The organisation is looking for someone who is approachable, people-centred and has an inclusive style in the way that they work.
The organisation is looking for the best fit for the role and is open to whether the role is located in its Wellington or Auckland office.
You will ideally have
5+ years’ experience in an HR role
Experience across multiple HR disciplines in order to provide generalist yet highly competent HR advisory services
Hands on experience with human resources management software
