Regional Operations Director – Rotorua

Job Description:

We have a unique opportunity for a Regional Operations Director to join the Regional Operations Delivery Branch of Managed Isolation & Quarantine (MIQ). This is a 12 month Fixed Term full time position based in Rotorua, with regular air travel required to Wellington.

Reporting to the General Manager MIQ Operations, you will be accountable for the effective and efficient running of MIQ operations across eight separate sites, based in Rotorua, Hamilton and Wellington.

Accountabilities include all aspects of operational management of the regional office and managed isolation facilities including but not limited to, security and compliance, facilities management, workforce testing, transport and logistics coordination, entry/exit management, accommodation and allocation coordination. In addition, key areas of responsibility will be Performance and Quality Assurance, Business and Financial reporting, Risk Management, Health and Safety, and Staff Management.

This role also works closely with the General Manager and MIQ Leadership Team in the development and implementation of strategic initiatives, operations and supporting plans.

To be considered for this position you will need to be able to demonstrate the following skills and experience

Exceptional leadership skills with the ability to coach and mentor others to achieve results and personal growth

Previous management experience working for a government agency

Ability to navigate through complex political environments

Good knowledge, application and interpretation of legislation

Experience implementing quality processes designed to improve productivity and excellence in service delivery

Experience in developing and maintaining networks and relationships with stakeholders and other agencies

Good knowledge of risk management concepts and techniques

In addition, you will need to be a NZ citizen, Permanent resident or hold the relevant work visa to work in NZ.
