The company has leading manufacturing capability and provides contract manufacturing solutions for a wide range of products. Specialising in the production of chilled and frozen convenience meals – the biggest part of the business is the Tomorrow’s Meals brand which are sold in our supermarkets. The team have secured significant opportunities and have plans to further innovate and expand the business in their state-of-the-art facility built last year.

About the Role

The Production Technologist is a newly created role. Working alongside and mentored by the General Manager, this is a practical, hands on position with responsibility focused on production and supply chain areas of the business.

The purpose of the role is to assist with systems design and implementation, continuous improvement, production planning and cost management.

Key responsibilities include

Maintain and develop recipe sheets and BOM’s for all SKU’s

Update standard operating procedures and training manuals, ensuring documents are clearly understood and auditable

Review and update purchasing and supplier management function to ensure best practice procurement and reduce supplier expenditure over time

Review and improve production planning systems to create efficiencies and timely reporting

Assist with day-to-day production scheduling, coordination with key members of the kitchen, operations team

Record and report on batch yields, measure daily production rates and identifying opportunities for improvementProject management and support with new product development

About You

As a tertiary qualified professional, you have a minimum of three years practical food manufacturing experience.

You will ideally have a Food Technology or Food Process Engineering background with a strong aptitude for driving manufacturing efficiencies. Even better, you have worked in production coordination or production planning and gained exposure to facets of a food business and their supply chain, quality and health & safety.

Tertiary degree in technical or food discipline

Practical attitude towards problem solving, production planning and equipment

Knowledge of BOMs and recipe management systems

Strong ability to review, develop and implement standard operating procedures

Proficiency in Excel, analysis and reporting
