Self-motivated, flexible & mature Experience required for this role

Minimum of 5 years in a senior role setting and managing budgets

Able to influence, mediate, bargain on a regular basis at ministerial levels

Previous experience working in the Social Sector an advantage but not essential.

Previous role in governance and leadership

Strong problem-solving skills

Highly developed personal skills – able to mentor senior members within an organisation

Knowledge of tikanga – comfortable within the Maori community

Has a vision to create sustainable Maori Organisation Some More Information About The Role The General Manager's role is to provide the predominantly Maori community with the appropriate support services by managing the operations of The Trust so that it functions successfully on a day to day basis, while ensuring it is financially viable, the staff are supported and have the tools to do their job and the Board is supported in its strategic and operational planning and delivery. The position follows established guidelines and procedures to be consistent with the organisations whanonga pono, and to work as part of the management team. This position requires frequent communication, a high degree of professionalism and the ability to deal effectively with people. The position is also required to travel extensively for work purposes.

Leadership – leads and inspires all levels of the business

Strategy – to effectively implement the strategic plan developed in conjunction with the CEOCompliance – to ensure the ongoing approval for the delivery of Social Sector requirements so we get and keep the right levels of funding.

Networking/ Relationship Management - at all levels to ensure the relevant relationships are well maintained for the best outcomes of Maori in the communities they serve Please note this role is only suitable for someone with permanent residency or NZ citizenship. Candidates also require a clean, full driver’s license and must pass a Police Vetting & MSD Check to comply with the Vulnerable Children Act.
