Our client is a New Zealand based company that designs and builds hi-tech processing plants for manufacturing premium concrete sand. Their initial markets are New Zealand, Australia and the Pacific Islands.
Their product offers quarries and concrete plants the opportunity to supply building materials with strong environmental credentials, with no wastewater and lower carbon emissions. With this new technology, they are creating an exciting new industry from New Zealand and require an experienced Mechanical engineer, to join their growing team designing and building new plants locally and internationally.
The role will involve
Preparing system requirements specification – liaising with customers, suppliers and staff.
Standards compliance – compliance with relevant structural and safety standards.
Project Management – managing engineering staff and contractors to deliver projects on time and within budget.
Financial tracking – preparing budgets, tracking expenses and reporting.
Relationship management – liaising with customers and contractors for smooth project operations, effective problem solving and happy customers.
Mentoring and supporting junior staff – nurturing an environment of openness and trust where staff feel supported to learn new skills and grow their career.
Overseeing installation and commissioning – working with subcontractors and customers responsible for installation, testing installations and problem-solving during commissioning.
Monitoring and diagnosing existing plant – remotely monitoring operational plants from our base in Hamilton to detect issues early and remedy faults quickly.
A Mechanical Engineering Degree or similar and extensive practical design experience.
High level of experience with 3D CAD packages (we use Solidworks).
Experience designing to meet engineering standards.
Excellent organisation skills.
Enthusiasm for learning new things and working in a small, ambitious team striving for continuous improvement and producing a quality outcome.
A great attitude with the ability to methodically work through complex technical challenges.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
The following skills would also be an advantage but not essential
Project Management experience, supervising a team of engineering staff and contractors.
